Shocker volleyball on road to postseason, guaranteed spot in MVC tournament

With two more wins under the belt, Wichita State’s volleyball team has two regular season matches left in the 2015 season.

Guaranteed a spot in the MVC Tournament, the Shockers improved its record to 23-7 overall and 14-2 in the Missouri Valley, and are rolling on a four-game win streak.

In a five-set thriller, the Shockers fought until the finish and came out on top of Loyola with scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25 and 15-13.

Mikaela Raudsepp and Shimen Fayad led the team offensively with 13 kills each. Emily Mostrom had 42 assists while Dani Mostrom had 15 digs.

The Shockers started strong, taking the first set, but the Ramblers answered in the second set.

The third set wavered back and fourth until the Shockers pulled ahead, and the fourth was a battle resulting in a Loyola victory.

The final set to 15 was won by WSU on two Rambler errors.

Against the Bradley Braves, the Shockers swept with a 3-0 victory and remain No. 1 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Hitting .412 percent, the Shockers won by scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-10.
