Drastic changes to the Shocker basketball staff are not only coming for the men’s program but the women’s program as well.

It was announced this afternoon that Shocker women’s assistant basketball coach Dana Eikenberg has accepted an assisting coach position at Providence College in Rhode Island.

Eikenberg will be joining her former teammate from Penn State and Providence Friar head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl.

“This is a great opportunity for Dana to go and work with her former Penn State teammate, Susan Robinson Fruchtl, and help build her program,” Shocker head coach Jody Adams said.

Though this is a tough loss for the program, Adams is grateful and appreciates Eikenberg’s time spent with the Shocker community.

“We appreciate Dana and all she has offered to us here at Wichita State and wish her much happiness and success at her new stop,” Adams said.

During her two seasons as assistant coach at Wichita State, Eikenberg has helped coach the Lady Shockers to consecutive Missouri Valley Conference regular and post season titles and earning back-to-back bids to the NCAA tournament.
