Women’s basketball slopes into losing streak

The Lady Shocker basketball team is finding it difficult to regenerate the success the team once lived as they fell to Southern Illinois 64-59 on Saturday after starting off the season for best start to a regular season.

Junior Alex Harden dropped 17 points and snagged four rebounds while senior Michelle Price added 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds of her own.

Southern Illinois Dyana Pierre was on fire from the field as she shot 10-for-20 and contributed 23 points to the team’s win.

Despite tremendous efforts on the floor, the Shockers were statistically dominated by Southern Illinois except the field goal percent where they tied at 23-for-53 for the game. The Salukis managed to pull away from the Lady Shockers from the three-point and free throw lines.

The team returns home on Sunday to cap off the regular season in contest against Missouri State at 2 p.m.
