Lady Shockers win 12 games in a row

The Lady Shockers’ team moved their win streak up to 12 after they defeated Northern Iowa by a score of 80-47.

The Shockers were led by Alex Harden, who scored 22 points and had 5 assists. Michelle Price added another double-double to her career.

Price scored 16 points with 12 (7 offensive) rebounds. She also added one block to her stat sheet.

The Shockers came out slow, but built up an 8-point lead by halftime behind the solid guard play of Alex Harden and Jamillah Bonner.

Wichita State went into the locker room up 35-27.

“Hop back out on that court and play with intensity for 20 minutes,” Head coach Jody Adams said to the team at halftime.

The Shockers locked down their defense and rose to the occasion. They had three-point plays and shot 55 percent from the field in the second half.

The Shockers’ defense challenged every shot, only allowing UNI to shoot 28 percent from the field for the game.

The Panthers, a normally very successful three-point shooting team, were limited to 17 percent from beyond the arc.

“Our focus was to blow up their sets and not allow them to do what they wanted to do on the offensive end,” Jody Adams said.

The Shockers destroyed the Panthers by a score of 80-47, and four Shockers were in double figures.

Wichita State next plays Drake at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Charles Koch Arena.
