Students Unite presidential candidate apologizes for mishap

Fellow students,

An event took place on campus called Project Run-A-Way, organized by the Contemporary Arts Society, and was funded in part by SGA.

Our party was originally invited to speak at the event, and our presidential candidate and I came to the event, but did not go on stage. Instead, the organizer of the event, Diana Carbajal, publicly endorsed our party and stated that we are the ticket who was going to support the arts on campus. She did not give an opportunity for the other party to speak or be recognized.

We are apologizing for this mischaracterization of the situation. Because of this turn of events, students were not allowed to hear the other party’s views on similar events.

We have strived to run a clean and fair campaign, and regret that the other ticket was put at a disadvantage. We are sorry that our counterparts on the other ticket were not mentioned by the event’s organizers. This resulted in imbalanced publicity.

We remain committed to continuing a clean and fair campaign, and we sincerely apologize to the other ticket and all those involved for the situation at hand. We regret that the speaker at the event gave our ticket an unfair advantage in mentioning us.  Our campaign was suspended until the opening of polling, and we were happy to allow the other ticket a chance to make up for the advantage we had because of the unfair coverage we received at the Project Run-A-Way event.
