When you got up this morning to grab today’s issue of The Sunflower, this might not be what you expected to pick up. 

In fact, you might not have had any clue what it was. So, let me explain.

This is The S, a product of The Sunflower, something we hope you look forward to each week. 

It will come out each Thursday, in lieu of our normal Thursday paper, and will be a change of pace from the norm. 

We at The Sunflower want to make newspapers interesting again, a challenge with the popularity of constantly getting news from the Internet. 

The S will be a guide, of sorts, to your weekend. It will include everything from movie and restaurant reviews, to previews of local bands and concerts, and of course a look into the weekend’s sporting events.

For the first issue we decided to feature the Wichita State volleyball team, a program more than deserving of the attention. 

And don’t think that The S is purely about entertainment. It’s about bringing you something new, something exciting. 

For all of you that are fond of our normal broadsheet, don’t worry. It will continue to come out as usual on Mondays and Wednesdays. 

But on Thursday, we wanted to change things up a bit. 

Thus The S was born. We sure hope you like it.
