The Wichita State Shocker bench is all smiles as Coach Gregg Marshall cleans out the bench in the closing minutes on the game against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday evening, in Koch Arena.

In their first true road test game of the season, the Shockers fended off Colorado State in an 82-67 victory.

Four Shockers scored in double digits with junior Zach Brown leading the team with 16. Redshirt junior Shaquille Morris followed with 13 points, sophomore Markis McDuffie with 12, and redshirt freshman Landry Shamet contributed 11.

At the beginning of the season, the Shockers struggled to keep their energy from the first half going into the second half, however, that wasn’t the case this afternoon. While the Shockers did win the first half 34-31, the Shockers rallied in the second half and scored more points in the second half than in the first to win 82-67.

Brown’s three with 7:59 left started a 10-0 run for the Shockers putting them ahead of Colorado State 70-59. They then finished the game with a 22-8 run.

This win secured Wichita State a winning non-conference record for the 19th consecutive year.

The Shockers will return home on Tuesday to play St. Louis University at 7 p.m.
