WSU men’s, women’s tennis nationals continue

The men’s and women’s tennis teams are in full swing at the ITA All-American Championships.

On Tuesday, the women’s doubles team of Rebecca Pedrazzi and Aleks Trifunovic came out ahead in their third-consecutive match against Texas Tech’s 43rd-ranked team of Gabriela Talaba and Sabrina Federici, progressing to the second round of the qualifying draw in Pacific Palisades, California.

Pedrazzi and Trifunovic were matched against Duke’s 39th-ranked team of Beatrice Capra and Ellyse Hamlin at noon Wednesday, and lost.

Julia Schiller and Gabriela Porubin competed Tuesday, as well, but were eliminated by USC’s Giuliana Olmos and Rianna Valdes.

The women’s team will be traveling to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to compete in the women’s ITA Central Region Championships Oct. 15 through 19.

Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, men’s the 42nd-ranked doubles team of Jocelyn Devilliers and Tin Ostojic fell to Adam Gustafsson and David Warren of Rice.

Ostojic still has singles to look forward to, where he will compete in the main draw set to begin today. Ostojic is ranked No. 26 in the preseason rankings.

After the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, the men will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the men’s ITA Central Regional on Oct. 15 through 19.
