Shocker tennis falls to No. 29 Oklahoma State

Wichita State men’s tennis lost the first of their eight dual-match home stand against Oklahoma State 4-2. With the loss, the No. 61 ranked Shockers are now 4-5 while OSU extended their best start in school history, now 9-0.

In doubles, OSU started strong behind their No. 38 ranked doubles team as Brady Bohrnstedt/Arjun Kadhe defeated Tin Ostojic/Tomislav Gregurovic (WSU) by a score of 6-4.

Even with a superb effort from Guillermo Nicol/Guillermo de Vilchez, who won their double match 6-3, WSU ultimately lost the doubles point as Ilija Cuic/Joecelyn Devilliers lost 6-4.

The dual match was even at one apiece when Ostojic earned a 6-5(5), 6-3 victory to start off singles play. OSU won the next two matches against Cuic (6-3, 6-4) and Devilliers (6-3, 6-4).

Gregurovic tried to stop the bleeding and start a WSU comeback with his win against Sebastian Sachs in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Oklahoma State went on to clinch the match with a Bohrnstedt win over de Vilchez 6-4, 6-5 (5).

Wichita State will be back in action against Cowley on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Genesis Health Club on Rock Road with first serve set for 1 p.m.
