Primer to the Final Four game

Wichita State’s run to the Final Four has been nothing short of impressive. It includes a win over the top-ranked team in the country and the Big 10 tournament champions.

Now the Shockers will have to get through the top overall seed in the tournament, a 33-5 Louisville team that has won 14-straight games and recently beat Duke in the Elite Eight by 22 points.

Louisville is the favorite to win the national championship, and for good reason. They are full of NBA talent, including Peyton Siva, hot-shooting Russ Smith and big man Gorgui Dieng.

The Cardinal’s coach isn’t bad either. Rick Pitino has been at Louisville since 2001, and just took the Cardinals to the Final Four a year ago. His real dominance came when he was the coach at Kentucky from 1989-1997.

He led the Wildcats to six consecutive NCAA Tournaments, including the 1996 national championship.

On the other side of the bracket are Syracuse and Michigan, a pair of four seeds that are coming into the Final Four red hot.

Michigan is responsible for ending the season of No. 1-seed Kansas in the South Regional, while Syracuse defeated No. 1-seed Indiana in the East Regional.

WSU and Louisville get the Final Four started in Atlanta on Saturday at 5:09 p.m., followed by Michigan and Syracuse.

The winners play in Monday’s national championship game on CBS.
