Homecoming wrap-up still packed with activity

This week will be full of firsts for Homecoming King candidate Justin Hall with his week of royalty planned by the Wichita State Alumni Association.

“I am a late bloomer when it comes to Shocker spirit and this [weekend] will be my first basketball game in the eight semesters I’ve been here,”he said.

The candidates are encouraged to participate in the Shocking Nearly Naked Run starting at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Heskett Center.

Many said they plan on participating in the run like Queen candidate Tessie Arambula.

“I like to workout and it’ll be a great time,” Arambula said.

Hall on the other hand says he is still thinking about running nearly naked.

The candidates’ will attend the women’s basketball game themed “Bra’s for a Cause” at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and men’s basketball game at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday with the coronation occurring at halftime.

Only missing less than 10 basketball games in the past five years, Tyler Kemp, student in the College of Fine Arts, says he is all about Shocker spirit.

“Justin Hall and I are both in the College of Fine Arts and I think we will do a great job in representing the Fine Arts department,” Kemp said.

“We are kind of excluded from the main campus here in Duerkson but the pep band is here,” Kemp said, who is also part of the pep band.

The candidates have until Friday at noon before voting closes to keep campaigning.

There are posters with their information in front of the Bookstore in the Rhatigan Student Center. Ashlee Baysinger, assistant director of Student and Young Alumni Relations, says the posters’ descriptions are correct about the candidates right to the T.
