Student Government plans to add 16 comment boxes to gather student input

Since spring 2012, the Student Government Association has employed the use of 11 suggestion boxes around campus to get a feel for what students want and need from their elected officials. Soon, SGA will add 16 more boxes to help new and existing students make their voices heard about important issues on campus.

“We can’t read minds,” Campus Issues Chair Steven Haneveld said. “We want to hear more ideas and suggestions from the 15,000 students who aren’t in Student Government.”

Two of these boxes are located in Brennan Hall and Fairmount Towers. SGA knows there have been a lot of complaints from students living on campus, and hopes to address these issues through student comments and suggestions.

“Any issue is important,” Haneveld said. “Comments can range from compliments to serious problems such as campus safety.”

Haneveld and SGA have gone so far as to offering an “open-door” policy to anyone wanting to be involved in changing campus life. The SGA office is located in the Rhatigan Student Center on the second floor room 202. Haneveld encourages any and all students to come in and offer their input for running campus.
