Pre-pharmacy student’s day goes full-scale

Jacob Archer, a junior from Derby studying pre-pharmacy, balances school, extra curriculars, and working in his field of study every day.

“Every day, I wake up at six to get all my stuff together, come out to campus usually by eight, start my labs and lectures, and then sometime in between I try to fit some homework in,” Archer said. “I work in my field of study at Dillons for part time in their pharmacy department for about four to six hours a day.”

Archer is a member of the Honors College and is involved with multiple activities within the college. One in particular is a newly formed group called the Honors College Peer Mentoring Program strictly for the Honors College students.

“The peer mentoring program is more of a new program so we’re still finding exactly what we’re doing,” Archer said. “It’s like an advisor for everything that doesn’t involve school. We help with life issues for people that are overly stressed and help with anything outside of classes or finances.

“It’s nice to be there for our friends and peers.”
