Put a little chili-lime spice in your shrimp life

Sometimes, a little change can liven up the most regular dishes. While the regular taco is well and good and enjoyed by many, adding different ingredients makes the tortilla a more interesting device. These shrimp tacos (recipe originally from CookingLight.com) get their kick from the simple, but effective, treatment of the shrimp. The chili-lime shrimp cook quickly and only require five ingredients.

For the shrimp:

• Shrimp

• 3/4 cup green onions, chopped

• Chili powder

• The juice of one lime

• 2 tablespoons butter

Cooking the shrimp:

1) Heat a bit of oil in a frying pan or skillet. Sauté 1/2 cup of the chopped green onions until soft.

2) Prepare the shrimp. If they are frozen, make sure to defrost them. De-vein them if they are not already, and remove the tails. Once they are prepared, add them to the skillet.

3) Add the chili powder and stir. Sauté for a few minutes until the shrimp have cooked, stirring occasionally.

4) Turn off the heat and add the butter and lime juice. Stir it all together, coating the shrimp. Top with the rest of the green onions.

When it comes to the full meal, add the shrimp and some chopped cabbage together with tortillas for a nice chili-lime shrimp taco. Serve with rice, tomatoes and avocado, like my family, or find a combination that works for you.

Have fun, and eat well.
