Getting counsel from strangers
When I first heard about Blah Therapy, I thought it might be a scam.
I found the website, via a Tumblr post. According to what I read, Blah Therapy is a website where people can vent to total strangers about anything in their lives and get some free advice from the same strangers. The catch: it’s all anonymous.
Thinking it could be something worthwhile, I bookmarked the URL for Blah Therapy to check it out at a later time. That was in early January.
Over the weekend, during one of my rare moments of free time, I decided to check it out. I started a vent and was given the nickname “Rational Grape” for my chat. For about half an hour, my online listener and I discussed how I have absolutely no interest in pursuing a relationship with anyone, and they assured me nothing was wrong with my choice.
Never once did I feel judged during that chat. My listener made me feel comfortable opening up and didn’t ask me any personal questions without prompting from me.
After my vent, I decided to be a listener. I was quickly paired with someone and had a quick chat about depression before the person venting logged off. Shortly after, another user logged on to discuss her relationship and how she thought it was falling apart (in respect of her privacy, I won’t give away anything else).
All in all, I found Blah Therapy to be a wonderful website that delivers exactly what it says it will. The best part of it is that it’s totally anonymous, unless the listener or the one venting chooses to give their name.
In addition, the website offers options to hear from real therapists instead of everyday people, with information on how to pay for those services included.
If you want to vent to someone about something, anything, I recommend checking out Blah Therapy. You won’t be judged, and you’ll come out of it feeling better.
