See it or Skip it? – Nov. 15
Ever since I was in second grade, I have wanted to see a film about Honest Abe. By the looks of it, the wait was worth it. We have the great Steven Spielberg in the director’s chair and chameleon actor Daniel Day-Lewis in extremely convincing make-up as the famous president. Something that I cannot wait to see is what I think is the greatest casting call in the last decade—Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln.
I would have preferred a more extensive look at Lincoln’s entire life. Spielberg’s film details the final four months of his life, highlighting when he and his cabinet abolished slavery. It is sure to be a lot more meaningful than depicting him as a vampire hunter, isn’t it?
Although it may not get the number one spot for this weekend, due to the final “Twilight” film being released on the same day, it’s safe to say that “Lincoln” will leave a more lasting impact on audiences and will no doubt be a major contender at the Oscars.
