Wichita State volleyball team struggles on the road
The Wichita State volleyball team lost on the road to Illinois State Saturday, 3-1.
Scores were 17-25, 25-17, 22-25 and 16-25.
The loss followed the Shockers’ 3-2 win over Indiana State on Friday.
Scores were 24-26, 25-15, 15-25, 25-11 and 15-4.
WSU is now 18-7 overall, 11-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Shockers sit in third place in the MVC, three games back of first-place Creighton.
WSU has three games remaining in its regular season. Next is a home date against Missouri State (15-12, 9-6 MVC) on Friday.
WSU men’s basketball hosts Pittsburg State in exhibition tonight
The Wichita State men’s basketball team will host its lone exhibition contest tonight against Pittsburg State at 7 p.m. in Koch Arena.
The Shockers were recently picked to finish fourth out of 10 teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. WSU is the defending regular-season MVC champions.
The Shockers won 27 games a year ago and 56 over the past two seasons, a school record.
WSU lost to Virginia Commonwealth in the Round of 64 in March’s NCAA Tournament.
Pittsburg State, from Pittsburg, Kan., is an NCAA Division II school.
The teams haven’t met since the 2007-2008 season, a 56-42 win for WSU.
