Chinese food is something most of us love to eat, but finding a good place that serves it is not easy. For all those searching for good Chinese food, look no further. Yen Ching is a Chinese restaurant that has been in business for more than 20 years. Located at 430 N. Rock Road, it’s just a 10-minute drive from Wichita State’s main campus.

The front and inside of the building is nice and spacious and gives the feeling of a home-like environment. The inside has numerous Chinese decorations along the walls. The restaurant has stairs leading to an upstairs dining area.

The booths are separated, giving for a more private meal. On each table and booth is a candle sitting in the middle. The tables have koi fishes printed on them.

The menu consists of appetizers, soup, pork, vegetable, beef, seafood, fowl, chow mein and lo mein, fried rice and entrees. The beverage menu consists of sodas as well as alcohol. Prices of meals range from $5 to $20.

I chose the chicken lo mein for my main course. The vegetables were crunchy and clearly fresh. The noodles were soft and well cooked. The chicken was well done and juicy, but some of the pieces still had fat on them. The sauce used in the dish was very well blended.

Yen Ching is a must visit as far as the Chinese food scene goes in the city of Wichita. Great food and a great atmosphere leads to a first-rate dining experience.
