Wichita State’s President Richard Muma has been to the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities (USU) board of directors.
The USU is a network of more than 40 urban public research institutions within the United States, led by university presidents, such as Muma.
USU presidents aim to achieve equal economic, health and educational outcomes for historically marginalized students within urban communities. The entity does this through collaborations and grants, including the Student Experience Project, which engages faculty in the community to assist teaching practices.
With WSU being a part of USU, the university will help students from marginalized communities build a skilled workforce and strengthen those communities across Wichita, Kansas and the United States as a whole.
