Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach visited Wichita State’s campus Wednesday to help install a naloxone distribution box in the Rhatigan Student Center. The distribution box, which contains free naloxone kits, is located near the information desk on the opposite side of Starbucks.

“Every human is part of our community, and we want all of our humans with us,” said Marci Young, director of Wichita State’s Health Outreach and Prevention Education Services. “The more readily available that Naloxone is, if someone is overdosing and somebody is there to help them, we can save more lives.”
Naloxone is used to treat opioid overdoses caused by drugs like fentanyl. The distribution box placed in the RSC was one of 40 that are planned to be placed throughout Kansas, according to a press release from Kobach’s office.
“I was really excited in (Kobach’s) passion for viewing naloxone as a life-saving tool,” Young said. “… It was really wonderful to see somebody looking at various ways that we can tackle this problem together.”
