Editor’s note: This story has been updated with more accurate numbers related to estimated student fees revenue and total requests from the student fees entities.
The student fees commission began reviewing every student fee-funded entity without knowing an official total budget that it will work with to make its draft budget.
Starting at 9 a.m. Monday and ending Thursday, the commission will hear from the entities, and draft a suggested budget that will be presented to the Student Senate at a following Senate meeting. Once approved, that budget will outline how much each group or service gets.
Wichita State’s budget office is responsible for giving a total budget to the commission and has estimated there will be around $10 million this year. But the estimate is not official.
The total ask from the entities is around $10.6 million.
Student fees hearings are held in Rhatigan Student Center 233. The hearings are open to the public and are live-streamed on SGA’s YouTube channel.
