Several parts of Wichita State’s campus will be blocked off due to construction starting over spring break, according to announcements from a university newsletter Friday. 

Phase one of the renovations to the Campus Activities Center Theater will start on March 16, aimed to bring the theater into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Temporary fencing will be built near the building, but sidewalks around the building will remain open for pedestrian access. This phase of construction is expected to end in May of this year. 

Scheduled work on Ahlberg Hall has been delayed until the summer, when operations are paused. The building will remain open over spring break. 

Jardine Hall closed over break

Jardine Hall is scheduled to close over spring break, starting March 15, with remote operations because of updates to electrical switchgear. Regular building operations will resume on March 20. 

While Jardine is closed, all staff in the building will be working remotely. Graduate school and admissions staff can be reached via email. 

The registrar’s office will be closed, and in-person services will pause, but students will be able to request electronic transcripts through the National Student Clearinghouse. The staff in the registrar’s office can be reached by email, located in the staff directory. 

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will be offering virtual appointments and limited in-person advising at the temporary OneStop location in the Shocker Success Center. Accounts receivable will temporarily relocate to the Shocker Success Center, and students can reach the office at 316-978-3430 or via email. 

The modern and classical languages department will be available only by email over spring break. Students should contact Rocio Del Aguila or Meliza Ellenz for assistance and questions. 

Normal operations in Jardine will resume after spring break.
