Student Government Association general elections for student body presidential tickets and student senators will be open from April 6 at 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. on April 8.
There are two pairs of candidates for student body president and vice president.
Jayden Island is running with Anoushka Raju on the platform of community, transparency and resilience.
Mason Fouquet is running with Nazanin Kasirosafar on the platform of increased student involvement, enhancing communication and transparency, advocating for student resources and accountability and results.
Both candidates will debate at 6 p.m. on March 26 and April 2 in RSC 233. The debates will be livestreamed to The Sunflower’s Instagram and SGA’s YouTube channel.
Senators represent students in legislative processes by creating and voting on bills and resolutions. Bills include bylaw changes, funding for certain projects and more whereas resolutions act as the official opinion of the student government, typically recommending action be taken from a department on campus.
The Student Senate meets every Wednesday during the school year — with some exceptions for breaks — at 7:30 p.m. in Rhatigan Student Center 233.
