Each year, Greek organizations across campus take to the stage and perform in the campus’s longest-running tradition: Hippodrome.
This year’s theme was “Huxley: Goes Viral,” and true to the theme, several of the skits were reminiscent of last year’s most viral trends, such as “Wicked: For Good,” “Superman” and the infamous “6-7” joke. Huxley is the event’s hippo mascot.
Sigma Phi Epsilon won last year’s Hippodrome and wrote history as back-to-back champions at the end of this year’s award ceremony, adding another trophy to the display case. But the journey wasn’t easy.
Jamie “Junior” Rivan, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, said even though the initial writing process was delayed, he felt his team was prepared for the show.
“We’re excited,” Rivan said before his performance. “We’ve seen everyone’s shows, and they’re lovely. We’re ready to bring on the A-game.”
Rivan said he was hoping for another win after weeks of late practices that sometimes ran to 1 a.m.
The late-night practices and bringing the “A-game” paid off.
Zachary Winter, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon — who won second place at the 2026 Hippodrome — played a character whose entire theme was “6-7,” including his tie, covered in scribbles of the numbers.
“I was a stagehand last year,” Winter said. “But I knew I wanted a bigger role, so I voiced my opinion.”
Winter said he was really happy with the performance of his fraternity brothers and the sorority they partnered with, Alpha Phi.
“During the beginning, it was real shaky, and I was like, ‘I don’t know how we’re going to do it,’” he said. “But during this last week (in rehearsals), we pulled it together and really locked in.”
Carter Cameron, a sophomore and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, said it felt great to win back-to-back championships, and he looks forward to next year’s Hippodrome.
“We put in as much work as we needed to,” Carter said. “I do everything for this fraternity. I love it to death. I’ll perform every year.”
