Courtney’s Corner: Henderson has that ‘X-Factor’

“Ghost,” by Ella Henderson, has been all over Wichita radio lately.

The smash hit has more than 58 million views on YouTube and recently went platinum in the UK. But what many might not realize is that Henderson is 19 years old and this is her first single and album, “Chapter One,” which was released in 2014.

Other songs to check out by Henderson include: “Hard Work” and “Mirror Man” from her debut album. There is a great depth to the album, with a uniqueness to each song.

She got her start in the music business, though, when she finished sixth place on the X-Factor UK in 2012, and then was signed to Simon Cowell’s record label, SyCo.

She said she is not what the X-Factor originally wanted because she demanded so much creative control from the beginning, but is happy with the way things turned out.

“I see Simon more than my parents,” Henderson said to Mirror Magazine UK.

She went on to speak very highly of Cowell to the magazine.

“It’s strange because he is the guy on the telly you’re petrified of, but he is lovely,” she said. “He has been so amazing and supportive through this process. He is just as excited as me about my album coming out and sharing it with the world.”

It’s amazing how she can be so young and be able to write all her own stuff and naturally sing like she does. And her live performances are awesome and raw, as well. She has appeared on “The Ellen Show” as a musical guest.

So go on down to iTunes, you don’t have to pray, but you should download some Henderson because her jams are on point and she isn’t going anywhere but the top of the charts.
