Running with Reynolds: Refocus, refuel over spring break

Spring break is the perfect time to refocus and finish the semester on a healthy note.

Here are a few things you can try on your week off to come back better than ever.

Sleep

If you’re anything like me, sleep has been few and far between these last few weeks. Get caught up next week, though, and return back to school refreshed and well-slept.

Jog

Enjoy the nice weather and get outside. The fresh air can do your body some good, too. Go to the park, enjoy the views and the sights and sounds. It’s not often students get to spend time outside — except for between classes for three minutes — so get out and get some sun.

Cook

Instead of eating out on the go all the time, cook your own food for a change. Take the time to find a new recipe, visit the grocery store and dine with a friend.

Yoga

Get your zen on next week and try a yoga class. There are several studios around town, and most of them offer free classes for your first or second (or even third) classes. Don’t bother with buying a membership if you’re too busy during the semester to attend, but use those free classes to your advantage.

Or, there are several great options online, books or magazines you can purchase to get you started.

Travel

Get as much distance between you and your responsibilities as you can next week. A little — or a lot — of space can probably do everyone a little — a lot — of good. If you don’t have the funds or time to go far, make a day trip to some place in Kansas.

Even less funds or time?

West sider? Spend a day in east Wichita — and vice versa. There’s plenty of shopping and eating to do that will make you feel like a tourist.
