WSU offering shorter classes

Wichita State is offering alternatives for the busy student — shorter, more compact classes during fall, but especially during summer.

Students have an option of taking pre-session classes, which last two weeks, four-week classes and eight-week courses.

Senior engineering student Maheth Nombrair likes short classes because he feels he can get more accomplished quicker.

“There is no time to slack off,” Nombrair said. “You either commit to it, or do not pass.”

Nombrair likes it because he can take more classes in a shorter time span during the year.

But for former WSU student Trevor Risley, two-week courses were too much too fast.

“Two weeks isn’t enough time to crunch major classes in,” Risley said. “My health deteriorated because it was so fast paced.”

Risley said he ended up getting a 101 percent in the class but couldn’t do anything else except study in the two week span.

“I don’t recommend it,” Risley said. “My four week course however was much better.”

There is still time to sign up for more classes this summer and fall. Check the schedule of classes part of the WSU website for more information. All class schedules are now being offered online only.
