Get WSU information electronically via the Media Center
The WSU Media Center has a lot of helpful links and information for anyone wanting to know more about Shockers. Located online, it allows users to access campus news releases, view university media relations contacts, find logos, photos and a basic profile on WSU, among many other useful links.
Deans needed at WSU
Out of the six colleges of Wichita State, five are currently searching for deans.
College of Health Professions: Though three candidates for dean were interviewed, no candidate was selected and the position will be advertised again in the fall.
College of Engineering: The search committee hopes to find one by the fall semester.
W. Frank Barton School of Business: An interim recently appointed with the search continuing.
College of Education: An interim named for academic year 2013 while the search continues.
Fairmount College of Liberal Arts & Sciences: The interim position is maintained with a search likely to begin next fall.
Ulrich PR Manager leaving, interim named
Teresa Veazey, a longtime face at Wichita State and the Ulrich Museum of Art, is leaving her position as Public Relations Manager of the Ulrich to become the Public Relations Manager for the Wichita Art Museum. The interim PR manager will be Madeline McCullough.
College of Education names interim dean
An interim dean has been named for Wichita State’s College of Education. While a national search is conducted for the permanent dean’s post, Shirley Lefever-Davis will serve in the position during the 2013-2014 school year.
NIAR receives new accreditation
The National Institute of Aviation Research on the Wichita State campus has attained additional authorization for materials testing, giving it greater esteem for WSU and Kansas. The accomplishment makes NIAR one of 13 US providers and the only provider in Kansas of non-metallic materials testing with Nadcap accreditation.
Lou Heldman named acting director of Center for Entrepreneurship
Lou Heldman, president and publisher of The Wichita Eagle and Kansas.com, has been named acting director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. He serves as Distinguished Senior Fellow in Media Management and Journalism.
Paul Dotson retiring as Chief of University Police
Paul Dotson, Chief of Wichita State’s University Police Department, has announced his retirement after 35 years of service. Dotson will be replaced by UPD Captain Sara B. Morris, who has 20 years experience working for the Wichita Police Department and eight years serving as a UPD Captain at WSU.
