Twilight tunes at Ulrich concert
The sun set over the McKnight plaza with a cool summer breeze sweeping through the air as guitarist Chuck Pyle opened the summer season of Art for Your Ears.
The event was hosted by the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State last Thursday.
Pyle is a country/folk musician who performed with evident technique and musicality. His all-in-one guitar playing covered the bass, back-up guitar and lead guitar parts. Pyle’s voice was smooth, clean and clear. His lyrics range from narratives of life experience narratives to stand-up comedy. He presented a solid package of performance, which the audience seemed to enjoy.
“It’s just a delight,” said Debbie Wright, who attended the concert.
This marks the fifth year the Ulrich has hosted Art for Your Ears, according to Teresa Veazey, Ulrich Public Relations Manager.
“We’ve got art on the walls; now we’ve got Art for Your Ears,” Veazey said. “So many other concert series are inside, and so we thought it’d be fun to do an outside concert, especially for the summer.”
“That is why I come- because of the setting, because of the environment,” Wright said.
RuthAnn Martin enjoyed hearing birds singing along to the music, thanks to the unique outdoor environment.
see here in Wichita,” Veazey said. This includes Pyle and upcoming guest artists, who have had music recorded by major country artists.

Grammy-winning artists Mark Selby and Tia Sellers perform on Aug. 1. This duo performs singer-songwriter music, and have more than 20 hit singles to their names.
The 7 p.m. concerts are at the McKnight atrium. Light refreshments are served and the shows are free to the public.
