College of Health Professions on the look out for new dean

Safe and secure medical practice comes from strong instruction capabilities.

The College of Health Professions is seeking a new dean to provide guidance and three candidates are being considered for the position. Each candidate spends three days on campus giving presentations and being interviewed by constituent groups.

Susan Hanrahan is currently Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University. She has already made her campus visit.

Donald Simpson is the chairman of the Department of Laboratory Sciences at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He arrives today and leaves on Friday.

Stephen Walston is currently the associate dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Oklahoma’s Health Sciences Center. He will be on campus from Sunday to Tuesday, May 7th.

Each candidate meets with a group of students for the opportunity to interact with the candidates and determine if this person is a proper fit for WSU.

“Everybody who interacts with the candidates when they come to campus is invited to fill out an evaluation form, ” said Keith Pickus, interim provost for the College of Health Professions. The search committee turns to these evaluation forms as part of the decision making process, he said.

If you would like to be one of the students to interview one of the candidates, contact Don Gilstrap, chair of the search committee. He can be reached at [email protected].
