Beggs Hall acid spill causes evacuation

An acid spill in Wichita State’s Beggs Hall required evacuation at about 1 p.m. on Thursday. No one was injured. According to officials, two students discovered the spill, closed the door and notified a professor. The professor then notified WSU’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety who then contacted Hazmat.

Hazmat verified the spill and withdrew. EHS immediately hired Eagle Environmental to clean up the spill in the Nanotech laboratory.

EHS personnel were unavailable for comment.

Lab activities resumed Friday.
