Cloud Atlas

The acclaimed directors of “The Matrix” and “Run Lola Run” team up to bring this ambitious adaptation of the 2004 novel of the same name to life. The narrative details “an epic story of humankind” with six interconnected stories, spanning from the 19th century to a post-apocalyptic future “in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another” from across the globe. Not only will this directing team bring us stunning visuals, but it will provide a unique opportunity for an all-star cast, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugo Weaving, to play a multitude of characters.

Fun Size

Nickelodeon Movies steps into more mature territory as far as a PG-13 rating goes with this teen comedy that sounds a lot like “Adventures in Babysitting” crossed with “The Hangover” and set on Halloween. The film’s trailers and TV spots gave the impression that this film was going to be R-rated, which would have definitely pumped up the “want to see” level, but alas, it is only one step up from a PG film. Although a PG-13 rating can go pretty far, I think “Fun Size” will probably take the safe way out, so save your money until it comes out on video.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

Here comes a sequel that nobody asked for. “Silent Hill” is a series of video games, which work well in that genre, but suffer when they’re adapted to film. This new film boasts that it will be a closer adaptation to the third video game in the series. This isn’t as bankable as the “Resident Evil” film series, which is just an excuse to see Milla Jovovich in form-fitting costumes. Also, six years between sequels is far too long. You should have left it out for dead.
