Comedian Michael Palascak brings act to WSU campus

Since the second grade Michael Palascak remembers wanting to be a comedian, although Palascak said he doesn’t quite remember what he wanted to be when he was in the first grade.

Friday, Palascak, an up and coming comedian, will be putting on a show at the Campus Activities Center Theater from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“He is a comedian who has been on quite a few late-night shows like Late Night with David Letterman, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” said Shannon Strasser, Shocker Night Life Chair for Student Activities Council.

When asked if there was something students should look forward to, Palascak said, “It’s a stand-up comedy show. In their town at their school. I am coming personally to perform for them. That should make them feel special. Go Shockers.”

SAC money comes out of student fees so it is allocated in the different committees’s budgets, which then decide how much money is available for an event.

“Traditionally, WSU goes to a conference in the fall called NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) and we will look at different acts there and they just contract them there.”

Palascak was chosen by the 2011-2012 Shocker Night Life Chair and committee and they were the ones who contracted him.

“From what I’ve seen, he does a lot of stuff that’s marketed specifically for college students. He has an act that’s all about living in the dorms or living on a budget,” Strasser said.

Palascak’s advice to students is very simple.

“Do what makes you happy. Love everyone. Breathe,” he said.

To try and get a larger audience for Friday’s show, Strasser has emailed RA’s asking them to set up a trip to the CAC Theater.

Students with ID get in for free. Non-student tickets are $3.

The next Shocker Night Life event will be on October 19 at the intramural fields when SAC will be bringing a haunted house to campus.
