Don’t break the bank to dress well

If you are a girl in college, a five-dollar difference between shirts can mean a lot. If you are looking to use your every buck to its fullest, here are the stores you want to shop at: TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Dress For Less, Gordman’s, Target and Kohl’s.

You can get anything from skirts, dress pants, dress shirts, dresses, heels—anything you need to get that savvy look for any interview. But remember, don’t expect the deals to be right in front of your face, you have to hunt for them.

If you have more money to put into your wardrobe, then here are some stores where you can get the same items: Maurices, The Limited, Express, Dillards, Von Maur and Charlotte Russe.

For men, suits are strongly encouraged, said Jill Pletcher, the director of Wichita State’s Career Services. Jacket blazers, cardigans and shirts with ties also give the college male a stylish business look.

For the male college student, buying clothes is more expensive because of the material the clothes are made of. However, Pletcher said if you want to get an outfit for a low cost, it is doable.

If used clothes is not an issue to you, then here are some places you could go: Brand Name Clothing, Goodwill and Burlington Coat Factory.

For new dress clothes, here are some stores: Dillard’s, Sears, Express, Brick’s, Eddie Bauer, and Jos. A. Bank.

Now talking about particular pieces of clothing for women, Pletcher states that the most common mistake for students is that they think since their job doesn’t require dress clothes on a daily basis they go in jeans for their interview. Pletcher said that is big no.

“You don’t have the job yet, so until then you should wear professional business clothes, she said.
