The associate nursing program at Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology (WSU Tech) has received national accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
With the accreditation, WSU Tech is able to retain student eligibility for financial aid and scholarships, create easier pathways to four-year universities and confirm the program meets national standards for nursing.
“This accreditation affirms the extraordinary dedication of our faculty and staff who are training the next generation of nurses,” DeShaun Willingham, the dean of nursing at WSU Tech, said in a press release. “Our students deserve the very best, and this recognition confirms they’re receiving a top-tier education grounded in both academic excellence and real-world preparation.”
When students complete WSU Tech’s associate nursing program, they are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam. Upon passing, they are equipped to begin working as Registered Nurses (RN). Students are also able to continue their nursing studies through an RN-to-BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program.
The accreditation was granted by ACEN at its April 2025 meeting. It applies retroactively to November 1, 2023, and will be reviewed in the Fall of 2029.
