WSU falls to Mizzou, hopes for weekend win
On Tuesday the Shockers lost to Missouri 9-4, which now puts them at a 12-3 record.
It took the team until the top of the seventh to score while the Tigers were able to win the first inning after only one batter hit and four walked.
Sophomore pitcher Preston Snavely pitched for just over two innings, sophomore Keylan Killgore went for two, and this week freshman pitcher Liam Eddy is a member of the American Honor Roll.
In the top of the seventh, junior Dayton Dugas, who was 2 for 4, tripled to right center. Then, sophomore Noah Croft grounded out to second base with an RBI for Dugas to score at home for the Shockers.
Later in the ninth inning, junior Greyson Jenista walked, then junior Alec Bohm doubled to left field, which allowed Jenista to take third.
Next up to bat was junior Mason O’Brien, who singled to left center field with two RBI for Jenista and Bohm to score.
Afterwards, Dugas reached on a fielder’s choice, then took second after Croft walked. Then Croft advanced to second and then third on a wild pitch. Junior Travis Young and senior Gunnar Troutwine walked, and then Young advanced to second.
After the Tigers made a pitching change, junior Jordan Boyer was hit by a pitch and walked with an RBI. Troutwine took second and Young advanced to third, with Croft scoring the fourth and final run for the Shockers.
WSU will be on the road again this weekend for their series against Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. The original game for Friday has been pushed back due to weather concerns, making the series start with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Sunday’s game has also been changed to 1 p.m.
