A female student was found dead Monday evening in a Shocker Hall dorm room, said Joe Kleinsasser, a spokesman for Wichita State.

No foul play is involved or suspected in the death, Kleinsasser said, and the student’s name has not been released, pending notification of family members.

University Police were reportedly conducting a welfare check at Shocker Hall when they found the student unresponsive. The student was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An alert was sent to students, faculty and staff late Monday evening to notify them of the death.

“Our thoughts go out to the family and those who are affected by this tragedy,” the alert stated.
