Senior Cale Elam went the distance as he struck out eight and gave up two runs as the Shockers walked-off with the win against No. 9 Cal State Fullerton 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium.

Drew Palmer didn’t have a long Tuesday night in Lawrence. After allowing four runs on six hits in the second inning, he was pulled in the second inning.

The Kansas Jayhawks used the second inning surge to defeat the Wichita State Shockers 4-2.

Casey Gillaspie led off the fourth with a walk and scored on a double to left field from Dayne Parker to cut the lead to 4-1. Parker moved to third on a ground out and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field from Micah Green to come within 4-2.

The Shockers missed some opportunities to draw closer, leaving 10 runners on base. With Green ready to score in the top of the ninth inning, Joe Haddox flied out to center to end the game.

The loss is especially disappointing after defeating No. 9 Cal State Fullerton last weekend.

The Shockers begin a three-game-series April 4 at Indiana State.
