Shocker women handed third loss
It took a little longer than Jody Adams planned for her basketball team to get in any kind of rhythm against Northern Iowa. But once they did, they couldn’t recover from their slow start.
Behind a combined 41 points from Jen Keitel and Brittni Donaldson, Northern Iowa ended Wichita State’s program-best 20-game winning streak
The Shockers fell behind by 14 points early in the first half and trailed the entire game en route to just their third loss this season despite 31 points from Alex Harden.
“It took us about 14 minutes to really get into the defensive things we wanted to do and provide the energy, the fight that we needed defensively,” Adams said.
Adams will have to wait until Friday to break Linda Hargrove’s win record to become the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in Shocker history.
WSU battled foul trouble all game with starters Jamillah Bonner and Michaela Dapprich fouling out. Michelle Price was able to play a total of five minutes with four fouls.
The Shockers return home to face Illinois State this Friday.
