Gun hoarding makes no sense
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll never understand this country’s obnoxious obsession with owning guns.
I get that part about the Second Amendment, giving citizens the right to bear arms. My question is, “Why do so many citizens hoard guns?”
I know hunters need a certain number of guns for different types of hunting. And, maybe some of them don’t want to give up their ole reliable rifle that killed their first deer. What baffles me are the people who hoard every single gun they have ever owned in their entire life.
What’s the point of that? Some will say “Obama and the liberals want to come and get our guns,” and I will be the first person to tell you that no well-intentioned liberal wants to come for your guns.
I’m a liberal with a bleeding heart, yes, but that doesn’t mean I want to take any of your guns away. All I ask for is universal background checks, something more than 90 percent of this country supports, regardless if they liberals, conservatives, libertarians, independents or what have you.
I don’t think I should be able to so easily have access to buying a gun. I’d be more comfortable having my background checked rather than having Joe Smith at some gun store just giving me a gun without knowing who I am.
So, if nobody truly wants to take away anyone else’s guns, why the obsession with owning them? I don’t get it. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
Then again, maybe its because I don’t use guns, don’t want to and don’t plan to. I’ve hunted occasionally, but I don’t do it enough to have constant access to a gun. Still, the obsession is obnoxious, almost pathetic.
If you own a gun or guns, great. Keep them to yourself. Nobody wants to take them from you, so enjoy having them.
