Coach Lamb evaluates volleyball team performance

The Shocker Volleyball team is off to a fast start with an 11-3 record, with all losses coming from top 25 ranked teams.

Two of those losses came this weekend, one against the number seven ranked team, the Hawaii Rainbows, and the other in a highly contested lost to the No. 25 ranked Creighton Bluejays in the Shocker Classic.

Head Coach Chris Lamb was satisfied with his team performance despite the two losses.

“It’s not about wins and losses,” Lamb said. “It is about going out there and having fun, keeping a positive attitude and keep pushing and trying to learn things about ourselves as a team. As a program we are always growing and evolving.”

Due to the recent success of the Shocker Volleyball program, the team has played a tougher schedule this season.

“When teams come to Charles Koch Arena or we go to their place they know they have a game on their hands,” Lamb said. “There’s only a few teams that can overwhelm us in a given game.”

Despite the losses suffered this past weekend, the team is already preparing for what lies ahead on the schedule.

“I don’t think the girls will have any problems recovering from the losses,” Lamb said. “We have a lot of senior leadership with Chelsey Feekin, Ashley Andrade and Elizabeth Field they are the teams calming influences on our team.”

With Drake looming on Friday, and Northern Iowa on Saturday up next for the Shockers, Lamb said the team will take the next couple of days to practice, watch videotape of their next two opponents and make adjustments as needed.
