Former Shocker to be inducted to National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame
Shocker Basketball legend Xavier McDaniel will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame at the Midland Theater in Kansas City on Nov. 24.
The induction is part of the College Basketball Experience (CBE) Hall of Fame Classic, a three-day event celebrating basketball.
The Wichita State Men’s Basketball team will play DePaul at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 25. If the Shockers win, they will play Nov. 26 in the championship game versus the winner of the BYU versus Texas game at 8:00 p.m.
As a senior in 1985, McDaniel became the first player in NCCA history to lead the nation in both scoring and rebounding. Also known as “X” and formerly known as “X-man,” McDaniel averaged 27.2 points per game and 14.8 rebounds for the Shockers.
McDaniel was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1984 and 1985. He was a first-team Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association All–American as a senior.
