Dan’s top 5 romantic…

Movies

  1. Play it Again, Sam If you’re someone who’s feeling a tad bit downbeat about your love life and need to seek an outlet that knows what you’re feeling, My prescription is a dose of Woody Allen’s comedies, in particular “Play It Again, Sam,” where Allen’s neuroticcharacter receives romantic advice from Humphrey Bogart. When you’ve gone through harsh break-up and turn downs, it’s always a bit comforting to see it all played in a comedic fashion. I won’t spoil the whole thing, but the film details why you should always strive to be yourself, rather than someone else, when it comes to love. “Here’s looking at you, kid.”

  2. Take Me Home Tonight “Take Me Home Tonight” really captures that timeless and ageless sensibility when we’re working up the guts to talk to that all-time greatest crush.

  3. Romeo and Juliet (1968)Now, I know that is not heavily praised by Shakespeare buffs, but what I care about is the passionate love displayed by actors playing the roles of the two star-crossed lovers, Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey. If it’s been since high school since you’ve seen this love story, give it another view.

Songs

  1. Neil Diamond’s Entire Discography Whether he’s crushing over a new girlfriend (“Cherry, Cherry,” & “I’m A Believer”) or sullen over the pains of heartbreak (“Solitary Man,” “Red, Red Wine”), you know that he’s being sincere about his feelings. No matter what mood you’re in, Neil Diamond will always have a lovely serenade for you.

  2. What Would They Say – Paul Williams The beautiful background piano, along with Williams’ rich and heartfelt voice, transcends into greatness as he sings about living in the country, away from “the roaring crowds and the worn out city faces.”

  3. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You – Bryan AdamsWhat really drives the song home is the arrangement handled by composer Michael Kamen. Adams’ singing style is often lampooned, but it fits well in this memorable song that’s sure to bring you and your lover close together.
