SGA to set new goals for Spring semester
As the spring semester takes off into full swing, Student Government Association begins to talk about goals for this semester and those that were accomplished last semester.
“I don’t have one specific goal, but more of an array of goals,” said SGA President Luis Carbajal. These goals include hosting SGA nights at various athletic events, continuing to create awareness for various campus issues and building on the success from last year’s Higher Education Day held in Topeka.
Some of the big accomplishments from last semester included a large increase in SGA awareness including an eight to nine times increase in turnout for SGA events and a big-ticket concert featuring country artists Joe Nichols and James Otto that helped people get more involved on campus and fulfilled a promise made by SGA for its 100th birthday.
“One thing I’m working on is creating an outline for future [SGA] presidents to align with [Wichita State] President John Bardo’s goals,” said Carbajal who hopes to accomplish this in the next couple months. Some of Bardo’s expansive goals include adding an additional residence hall, introducing an Honors College for all majors, introduce a $50,000 fund for mentored undergraduate research and to add an office for technology transfer.
