Butterflies, holding hands and hopefully the first kiss
The happiness of seeing someone whom you feel close to is beyond words. The feeling of looking forward to meeting that specific person catapults us back into childhood, like ice cream with extra toppings or Christmas.
But where do we want to meet our heartthrob? Where would be romantic, but convenient?
When going on a date, girls usually have high expectations. We want to go somewhere flowery, where the light is perfectly dimmed, the food is delicious and the music brings us into an accomplished, romantic mood. We want our prince to create the perfect evening for us.
However, besides this materialistic need, we women are also simple. Being taken to a park for a walk on a sunny day is all we need. Even our campus has park qualities, with nice hidden sitting options like the Grafly sculpture garden behind Wilner. It is not about spending the most money; it is about having the most creative idea for the first date.
If one takes his girl to Buffalo Wild Wings, where one TV screen sits next to another and they all show sweaty overweight football and baseball players, then he definitely failed and he should realize that there is no future in sight.
Going to the movies, for instance, has just one small positive feature, which is that the arms or hands could accidentally touch one another while trying to put them on the armrest. However, most of the time, both individuals are too shy to make it so obvious.
When watching a bad movie, the romantic atmosphere is automatically destroyed. When I am asked to have dinner at a fast food place or to go to the theater, I usually hear Paul McCartney`s wise words in my ear whispering: “Let it be.” Surprisingly he has always been right, but I still give it a chance despite being constantly disappointed.
To all the potential princes out there, please avoid restaurants where you love to hang out with your buddies, and where you behave barbarically. Also, avoid getting close to us in a theater. If a movie is good, we want to watch it so we can discuss it afterward. And if a movie is bad, we are pretty irritated that you chose to watch such a not-worth-it-at-all-movie, and are actually not interested in it anymore.
The location for the first date is crucial, but again, it is not about the materialistic value of it. Instead, it is about making it the most special place and creating the perfect memories for the two of you to share.
