Larkspur: Date night paradise

Old Town is a lovely part of Wichita with lots of culture and art. Located in the heart of Old Town is a little restaurant by the name of Larkspur. It is located at 904 E. Douglas, just around the corner from the Museum of National Treasures.

The walls and dividers inside are constructed of brick and stone, creating a well-designed building that goes nicely with its location in Old Town.

A wine menu is offered when you are seated. On the back page is a list of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. The restaurant has separate menus for lunch and dinner.

For lunch, you have the choice of sandwiches for $8 to $12, pasta for $13, grilled burgers for $9 and entrees for $14 to $17.

On the dinner menu, you have the choice of entrees for $17 to $27, seafood for $19 to $28, steak for $25 to $30 and pasta for $15 to $25.

Both menus have appetizers priced from $8 to $15, soup at $4.50 a cup and $6.50 a bowl, salads for $9 to $13, sides for $3.50, beverages for $2.50 to $4, and desserts for $8.

I ordered the Idaho Stuffed Trout, priced at $19.50. This is served with your choice of soup or salad: I chose soup. While waiting for my food, a good 25-minute wait, bread and an olive oil-pepper sauce were served.

The trout was well cooked. The crab stuffing added a rich taste to the dish, as well as the garlic butter citrus sauce covering the top of the fish. Steamed broccoli was served as a side dish.

Larkspur is a nice place to go for you and your significant other for an anniversary, date, or just a quiet evening together.
