The Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex on March 1.
If you hear gunfire near the Hughes Metropolitan Complex on March 2, it may be the Wichita Police Department conducting Honor Guard training.
The training will include ceremonial rifle movements involving a 21-gun salute — the source of the gunfire — and will happen throughout the day, so there are no definite times when gunfire may be heard. People may also notice the presence of police vehicles in the area.
The Hughes Metropolitan Complex is located at 5015 East 29th St N.
Honor Guards are ceremonial groups, typically made up of military or police personnel, which pay respect to government officials, dignitaries and deceased individuals.
