The Student Fees Commission finished its hearings of budget requests by various campus entities Wednesday and will enter deliberations Thursday to draft a budget to present to the Student Senate.
Each entity funded by student fees had a 15 minutes limit for its presentation and around 15 minutes for a questioning period. The commission will enter deliberations Thursday, ending the day when its budget proposal is complete.
The commission’s proposal will be presented to the Student Senate in a later meeting, and the Senate has the authority to make changes to the budget.
The total ask from the student fees entities was just over $10.6 million, but the student fees commission is working with under $10 million, according to an estimated budget. According to the estimate, the commission will have to cut a total of $600,000 across the requests during its deliberations Thursday.
The entities are split between student support services (organizations) and education opportunity funds (scholarships).
