Wichita fire crews respond Wednesday to building fire report at McKnight

Wichita fire crews were dispatched to campus Wednesday night outside of the Ulrich Museum of Art.

Battalion Chief Jim Wilson with the Wichita Fire Department said the report came in as a building fire. He said crews were directed behind McKnight Art Center.

“They had a room in which they were smelling something hot,” Wilson said. “By the time we got there, [the smell] dissipated.”

Wilson said crews searched all three floors of McKnight and did not find any hazards. He said there was never an active fire.
