Darius Carter’s hungry for a cheeseburger
Wichita State forward Darius Carter puts in his order for someone to bring him a cheeseburger from a favorite joint back home. Cleveland is about 40 miles away from his hometown in Akron, Ohio.
Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 245 pounds, Wichita State senior Darius Carter is not just hungry for a win, he’s hungry for some food from his hometown of Akron, Ohio — just 40 miles away from where he’ll be playing in a Sweet 16 matchup with Notre Dame Thursday in Cleveland.
Other than beating Notre Dame Thursday night, one thing would make Carter’s week great.
“If somebody could bring me some Swensons,” Carter said.
Swensons Drive In, famous for its award-winning Galley Boy, named America’s best cheeseburger by Forbes in 1999, was on Carter’s mind.
“I’ll take a Galley Boy, probably some Potato Teasers,” Carter said. “That’s probably it.”
The Galley Boy is Swensons signature double cheeseburger with two special sauces.
“I don’t want to get too full off of it.”
Carter hasn’t received his burger or Potato Teasers yet, and he wants some.
“I’ve sent a request out for someone to bring some,” he said, “but I haven’t gotten any deliveries yet, so hopefully I can get my hands on some.”
